Evans, GA – John Mark Tillman, 71, passed away March 8, 2023 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta with his devoted and loving fiancé Debra Gonzalez constantly by his side.

He was raised in Effingham County, GA and graduated from Effingham County High School. He continued his education at Young Harris College and graduated at the University of Georgia.

John worked as an air traffic controller until he went back to school and became a nurse. John was a RN for over 30 years at the Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. He loved to spend time camping at the lake and fishing. He dearly loved his family.

He was born in Savannah, GA on March 22, 1951 to the late Jewel Virginia and James Thomas Tillman, Sr.  He is survived by his former wife, Brenda Brogdon Tillman and their daughters, Elaine Connell and Lauren Claire Tillman; and brother, David Lamar Tillman.  He is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Alden Marie Tillman; and brother, James Thomas Tillman, Jr.  His family included several nieces and nephews. John's big heart also welcomed all into his growing family including the family of his fiancé.

In memory of John and his many years of service, the family is requesting donations in lieu of flowers to be given to the Burn Foundation of America, Doctors Hospital, 3614 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Building C, Augusta, GA 30909.

Graveside service will take place 2:30 pm Sunday, March 12, 2023 in Springfield Cemetery.
