Mr. John Y. Smith, 80, of Pooler, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his home.

John was born in Savannah, GA to the late Frederick E. Smith, Sr. & Inez Bentley Smith.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frederick E. Smith, Jr., sisters, Anita S. Davis and Carolyn S. Duncan, and brothers-in-law, Chuck Duncan, Kenny Davis, and Sonny Smith.  He retired from Delta Metals Company and was a member of Pooler First Baptist Church for over 40 years.  He enjoyed everything outdoors, including landscaping and yard work.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Barre Smith; sons and their spouses, Timothy & Julie Smith, Marc & Melissa Smith, Bentley & Melody Smith; grandchildren, Jessica, Evan & Katie, Rebecca, Mara & Samuel, Allie, & Caden; step-grandchild, Tyler VanHorn; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Henry, Gabriella, & Oliver; sisters, Jane S. Smith, Linda S. Werntz & husband, Gilly, Barbara S. Mordecai & husband, Billy; sister-in-law, Connie Smith, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 1 until 2 p.m. at the Pooler First Baptist Church.  The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church with burial to follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Pooler First Baptist Church Building Fund, 204 Hwy 80 W., Pooler, GA  31322.
