Obituary

Guyton-Mr. John Henry Zipperer, 92, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at his
daughter's residence.

Mr. Zipperer was born in Marlow to the late Henry Roland & Lottie Dasher Zipperer and
was also preceded in death by his son, John Roland Zipperer and his brother, Bartow S.
Zipperer. He was a lifetime active member of Zion Lutheran Church and had served on
the Church Council. He was a member of the Lutheran Men in Mission, a member of the
Graduate Sunday School Class and had also served on the Ebenezer Trustees. He was an
active member of the Marlow Farm Bureau, a member of the Effingham County Fair
Association and served as a Marlow School Trustee. He was a self-employed poultry
farmer and retired from Georgia Pacific.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Minnie Lee Helmey Zipperer of Guyton; two
daughters and sons-in-law, Emma Lee Dasher (Clayton) of Guyton and Martell Hall
(Micheal) of Guyton; daughter-in-law, Brenda Pack (Larry) of Ellabell; grandchildren,
Holly Zipperer of Hatfield, PA, Wade Zipperer (Mandy) of Guyton, Adam Pack
(Daniella) of Pooler, Richard Hall (Karen) of Guyton, Melissa H. Osteen (David) of
Rincon and Dana Lee D. Smith (Dana) of Guyton; eight great-grandchildren;
sister-in-law, Ollie Mae Zipperer of Guyton and several nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Anna Marie Jackson and Susan Waller who
helped with his care.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral: 4 p.m. on Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Barbara Koch
officiating. Mr. Zipperer will lie in state from 3-4 p.m. at the Church. Burial will follow
in the Church cemetery. The active pallbearers will be Richard Hall, Wade Zipperer,
Adam Pack, David Osteen, Dana Smith and Bart Zipperer. The honorary pallbearers will
be members of the Graduate Sunday School Class of Zion Lutheran Church. A nusery
will be provided

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Zion
Lutheran Church Land Fund, 121 Noel C. Conaway Road, Guyton, GA 31312.
