Port Wentworth – Johnny Griner transitioned to his Heavenly Home after a short illness. He was surrounded by family as he made his journey home. Johnny was the son of Gordon & Omie Griner of Colquitt County, GA.
He served in the United States Air Force as a loadmaster on a C-124 Globemaster during the Vietnam War. Johnny worked for Delta Airlines in Savannah and retired after 30 years. He was leased to B & H Transfer where he pulled containers in and out of the Savannah Port. Johnny was kindly known as "Trooper" during his trucking career. For the last 15 years he did what he loved best, farming.
Johnny is survived by his son, Lynwood Griner (Anita); his daughter, Shanna Loper (Sandy); grandchildren, Emilly King (David), Johnny Griner (Kassidy), Gracin Springer (Cameron), Ike Loper, Nicole Pare (Mitch); great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abbie, Makenna, Lucas, Bailey, Delaney, Gwendolyn, Declan, Mylee, Lance, Maddie, Ashton, Waylon; and the mother of his children, Shirley Myers.
Visitation: 11 am – 12 noon Monday, March 13, 2023 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 12 noon Monday, March 13, 2023 in the funeral home chapel.
Interment: Westside Memorial Gardens
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Savannah or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
