Guyton - Johnny Virgil Taylor, 83, passed away January 26, 2025 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The Effingham County native served in the U.S. Army, retired from Fluor and was a member of Guyton Christian Church. He enjoyed genealogy, traveling, cast iron collecting, bird watching, raising chickens, ducks, and guineas. He had a green thumb, enjoyed canning vegetables, baking breads, smoking meats, making wine, and Kombucha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Taylor; brothers, Charles, Jacky, and James.
He is survived by his wife, Rohaya Taylor; children, Ronald Andrew Lowe, Laura Kimberly Taylor (Blaine Geiger), and Charles Brenton Taylor (Kaitlyn); grandchildren, Jacqueline Taylor, Andrew Joshua Lowe, and Zackary Dillon Lowe; great-grandchildren, Emerson Lowe, Joshua Lowe, Brynlee Lowe, Delilah Shinall, Thea Lowe, and McKinely Lowe; sister, Mary Ann Goodwin; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his two cherished dogs, Lucy and Pebbles.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025 at the funeral home.
Graveside services will follow at 12:00 noon Friday, January 31, 2025 at Guyton Cemetery.
