Mr. Joseph L. Cox, Jr. "Joe", 79, of Guyton Georgia, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at his home.
Joe was born in Jacksonville, Florida and had lived in Guyton for 19 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph L. Cox, Sr. "Bill" and Hilda Greeson Cox. He was a member of Countryside Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He retired as a Tugboat Captain with Colonial Oil (Chatham Towing/Vain Brothers), preceded by Biblia (formerly known as Savannah Marine). He loved to fish, airplanes, listening to music, and watching military/western movies. He enjoyed his time on the water with his job as a Tugboat Captain.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Cox; daughter, Leslie Cox; sister, Shirley Lucas; niece, Joan (Bernie) Fernandez; great-niece, Taylor Fernandez; brother-in-law, Herbert Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Wanda Hutchinson; nephew, Mike (Michelle) Hutchinson, and nephew, Patrick Hutchinson.
The graveside funeral and burial to honor Joe's life will be on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Lower Black Creek Church Cemetery located right off of Highway 280 in the Black Creek Community.
