Mr. Joseph A. "Joe" "Papa Joe" Allen, Jr., 84, of Ellabell, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Memorial Hospital.

Joe was born in Savannah to the late Joseph Alexander Allen, Sr. and Mary E. Hiott Allen.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Louise Love Allen, and his brother, Jesse Clyde Allen.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was the second Cardiac EMT Tech in Chatham County.  He retired from Roberts Truck Center and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Gladys Youngblood Allen; children, Debra Vopali, Betty Parker (Lynn), Wanda Shue (Jeff), and Timothy Allen; step-son, Joey Peacock (Deirdre); 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Jeffers, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  The celebration of Joe's life will follow at 6 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
