Joseph L. Blissett (Joey), of Guyton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 after a brief illness.
Born February 16, 1962, he lived in Savannah until moving to Effingham County in 1990. Joey is survived by his wife, Renee Tucker Blissett; his children, Justin H. Wilson (Cortney), J. Zachary Blissett (Christina), Breanne M. Wullert (Michael), Caleb L. Blissett, Jacob B. Blissett, Russell Smith and Emily Smith; grandchildren, Kendall, Cole and Hayden Blissett, Cambria Kesler, Claire Wullert, Liam Wullert, Belle Blissett, Elizabeth and Lilly Wilson; his mother, Harriett S. Blissett; sister, Terri B. Thomas (Perry), as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joey was preceded in death by his father, H. Lonnie Blissett; grandparents, Hubert and Celeste Blissett and Joseph F. & Illma Sapp.
Joey graduated from Calvary Baptist High School where he played on Calvary's first football team. He also attended Southern Technical Institute. Seemingly Joey was destined to become a "restorer of power" after having been delivered at birth by flashlight when "lights out" occurred in the hospital during a storm. Joey worked as a lineman for Savannah Electric, Southern Company and Georgia Power until his retirement as a Distribution Supervisor.
Above all, Joey loved his family and doted on his grandchildren. His loved ones and friends will miss him and are comforted by fond memories and the knowledge that he is secure by his faith in our Lord Jesus.
The visitation will be on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 4 until 5 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home, followed by the memorial service at 5 p.m. with Rev. Kenny Grant and Rev. Royce Hendry officiating.
