Joseph "Joey" James Traywick, 69, of Savannah died Tuesday May 6, 2025, at his residence.

He was born April 16, 1956, in Eustis, Fl to the late Joseph C. Traywick and the late Edith Harris Traywick.  Although he was born in Florida, he spent most of his childhood in Port Wentworth, and graduated from Groves High School, with many often echoing fond memories of growing up knowing him. He then pursued a career in education, where his love and calling to teach grew.  Most know him as an educator of Chemistry and Physics who recently retired from Richmond Hill High after an accomplished 30 year career, but those who are lucky enough to really have known him knows that he loved to teach the Word and preach the Gospel and often found ways to preach to you whether it was one on one, in a classroom, hanging out, or from a pulpit. He was a great storyteller and always knew how to make people laugh, commanding an audience every where he went.  He was loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed and greatly remembered.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Jan Hurt and his beloved young nephew, Christopher Byrd.

He is survived by his children: Aaron (Brandy) Traywick, Bryan (Abby) Traywick, Bethany (Philip) Stanton, Kevin (Kristen) Traywick, and Matthew (Micayla) Traywick; siblings: Bart Traywick, Cindy Rogers, Glenda Knox, and David Traywick; grandchildren: Noah Traywick, Cameron Stanton, Caleb Stanton, Kolby Traywick, Kolton Traywick, Kane Traywick, Nathanael Stanton, Stevie Traywick, Matthew Traywick, Jr, and Beckett Traywick.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 10, 2025 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, 901 Hwy 80 W. Pooler, GA 31322. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
