Obituary

Mrs. Josephine Rose "Joan" Gallo, 85, of Pooler, Georgia and formerly of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Candler Hospital.

Joan was born in New York.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Gallo, a son, David Jude Gallo, her parents, Pietro "Peter" Mancuso and Maria (Mary) Parascandola Mancuso, and siblings, Rose Abatemarco, Sonny Mancuso, Dolly Gallo, Anna Maritato, Tony Mancuso, Sammy Mancuso, Frances Recce, Rachel Preziosi, and Mary Teggart.  She was a homemaker and a Catholic.  She has been described as never meeting a stranger, a sweet and loving person, and a good cook.

Survivors include her children, Anthony Gallo (Connie), Stephen Gallo (Angela), and Concetta Ijima (Lance); grandchildren, Andrew Gallo (Amanda), Toni Gallo, Rebecca Westmoreland (Wade), Krystal Ijima, and Sariah Ijima; great-grandchildren, Carter and Josephine Gallo, Rowan and Royce Westmoreland; sister, Nancy Guenther, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the funeral home.  The funeral to honor Joan's life will follow at 12 noon in the chapel of the funeral home with a private family burial to follow at Beaufort National Cemetery located at 1601 Boundary Street.
