BLOOMINGDALE – Mrs. Joyce Blackburn Maddox passed away Friday, October 19, 2012.
Mrs. Maddox was a graduate of Savannah High School and she was a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a long time member of Alpha United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. "Bud" Maddox and her brother, David R. Blackburn.
Survivors include her sons, Rev. Dr. J. Thomas Maddox, James Earl Maddox, Jerald Craig Maddox, Rev. Dennis Mark Maddox and wife, Ellie Williby Maddox; grandchildren, John Thomas Maddox, IV, Michaele Lauren Maddox and Spencer Mark Maddox; sisters, Louise O'Dell, Dolly O'Quinn, Hazel Loper; sister in law, Robin Blackburn and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Joyce's life was held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Alpha United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Carruth and Rev. Wayne DeFore officiated. Active pallbearers were Don O'Quinn, Bud O'Dell, David Whitfield, Michael Maddox, Matt O'Quinn, Ralph Wright and Larry Stricklin. Members of the Watson Davis Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers. Music was provided by Linda Kaapa, Bobby Hanson, Tim Love, Rev. J. Thomas Maddox, III and Willene Stone. Burial followed at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
