Joyce A. Forbes

Clyo- Joyce Ann Forbes, 67 years of age, a resident of Clyo, died at home with her family on February 28, 2011, after a long illness.
She was born in Savannah, Georgia during the height of World War II on December 15, 1943, to her parents John Pavlo and Catherine Brannan Pavlo, survivors of the Great Depression.
She grew up in the Catholic faith and graduated from Savannah High School in 1961. She started a family, then decided to become a nurse and graduated from Savannah Vo-Tech school of nursing with an LPN in 1973. She worked at Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. She was awarded the State of Georgia Faithful Service Award for her service at Georgia Regional.
Joyce Ann became a nurse because she loved children and animals, and wanted to make everyone feel better.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and a great friend to persons in need. As was said of her ancestor Mark Tarver on his death in 1849, her house "had been as a hospital for the poor" and she is survived by many young people who have lived and laughed under her roof.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Bruce Forbes; children, Ronald Thompson, Pam Sheffield, Lisa Parker (husband James "Bud" Parker), Susan Burnsed and Tina Perkins (husband Randy Perkins); five grandchildren, Philip Thompson, Marshall Perkins, Samantha Sheffield, Josh Perkins and Tristan Ward; and a brother, Walter Pavlo.
She loved us so much that our hearts will ache until we see her again.
Visitation will be 2-3 pm Monday, March 7, 2011 in the funeral home. Funeral service will follow at 3 pm Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Brownley officiating.
