Annie "Joyce" Bateman Overstreet, 78, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton.

Joyce was born in Millen, GA on April 4, 1946, to the late George and Annie Bateman. She grew up in Savannah where she met and married the love of her life Gardie Lyvon Overstreet. Later in life they moved and settled in Black Creek, GA.

Family was everything to Joyce. She was a devoted wife who faithfully loved and cared for Lyvon through many hardships. Her love spread through her entire family, but she always had a special place for her nieces and nephews who she treasured dearly. Joyce was the epitome of love in its purest form. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gardie Lyvon Overstreet; parents, George and Annie Bateman; and sister, Linda Conner.

Survivors include her nieces, nephews and their families; Keaton Conner (Holly) and their children, Emily and Charlotte; David Conner (Marcey) and their child, Sarah; Charlton Riegner (Micah); and LyAnne Polk (Ronn) and their children, Mary Ellen, Ava and Trevin; she is also survived by a sister, Carol McGee.

A graveside service to honor Joyce's life will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
