Pooler-Mrs. Juanita McCants Macon, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at
Summers Landing Assisted Living in Vidalia, Georgia under the care of Georgia Home
Health Care and Hospice.
Mrs. Macon was born on May 18, 1916 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina to the
late James and Caroline McCants. She lived in Andrews, South Carolina until 1943
when she moved to Savannah with her husband, George Macon. They later moved to
Pooler, Georgia in 1954 and resided there until moving to Vidalia, Georgia in December
2006. Mrs. Macon was a homemaker and a member of the Pooler First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George Woodward Macon.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Carl Hall of Richmond Hill
and Vidalia, Georgia; grandson, Brian Hall of Auburn, Alabama; granddaughter, Kelly
Meyer, and her husband Chris, of London, Ohio; great-grandson, Trevor Meyer of
London, Ohio; sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Lou Macon, of Pooler; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Thomas C. Strickland &
Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler, Georgia.
Funeral: 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in the chapel of the funeral home with
burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, Georgia.
