Mrs. Julia Edna Dunn Palmer
Springfield, GA/Walhalla, SC – Mrs. Julia Edna Dunn Palmer, 94, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Effingham Extended Care Center.
Born in Walhalla, SC she was the owner and operator of Palmer's Upholstery Shop and worked with her husband on his farm raising apples, peaches, vegetables, and honey. She was a member of Rocky Knoll Baptist Church where she served as nursery worker for many years, was a member of the Jolly Saints of Rocky Knoll, and a faithful member of the choir. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and was very active in family night suppers at her church. She attended Springfield United Methodist Church and was a member of the Bible Studies Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Dewitt Dunn; her husband, James Frank Palmer, Jr.; sister, Ethel Mead; brothers, Namon and Ernest Dunn; and her granddaughter, Julia Palmer.
Survivors include her sons, Francis Palmer and wife Shirley and Mike Palmer and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Tonya Ward (Rev. Chance Ward, Jincy Hinely (Jason Hinely) Richard Palmer; 5 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Palmer (Alice); sisters-in-law, Annie Hannah and Bruce Palmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Effingham Care Facility for their excellent care and love during her stay there.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday followed by funeral services at 5 p.m. in the chapel.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Rocky Knoll Baptist Church in Walhalla, SC.
Interment will follow in Oconee Memorial Gardens in Seneca, SC.
Remembrances may be given to Effingham Hospital Auxiliary/Beauty Shop, P.O. Box 386, Springfield, GA 31329.
