Springfield – Karen Bothwell Neidlinger, 84, born on August 23, 1939 in Little Sioux, Iowa to Leo and Nina Bothwell, passed away on May 3, 2024.
Karen was the second of ten children, they were a hardworking family that was full of love. She continued to share love with her family and friends, most of all she loved Jesus and knew where she would be spending her eternal life.
Karen was a longtime member of Springfield United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and served on various committees. She was a member of the Clyo Homemakers Club. Karen retired from the Department of Family and Children Services and Thomas Neidlinger Logging.
Karen loved to sew, quilt and crochet. If you were lucky enough to receive one of her quilts you knew you were loved. Karen was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding her loved ones. Mooma Karen will be missed by all but we know she will be dancing with Papa Tom.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Neidlinger, son, Barry Neidlinger, great-niece, Ella Bothwell, 5 siblings, Bonnie Beaty, Deanna Bothwell, Leo Bothwell, Jr., Kathy Robinson, and Leota Cross.
Survivors include her children, Rickey Neidlinger (Sheri), Robyn Franklin (Terry Abbound), and Cheryl Neidlinger; grandchildren, Jamie Tucker (Randall), Kelley Pass (Turner Gruber), Caroline Echols (Bo), Roby Neidlinger, and Jordan Franklin; great-grandchildren, Kinley Tucker, Clay Tucker, Miles Pass, Bryce Pass, Whit Echols, Miller Echols, and Dylan Gruber; a very special nephew, Ben Bothwell (Kristine), a very special niece, Jamie Gillis (Adam); siblings, Carol Kenealy (Doug), Sandy Purcell (Butch), Jerry Bothwell (Pam), Vicky Bothwell; daughter-in-law, Debbie Neidlinger; sister-in-law, Lynn Neidlinger; brother-in-law, Dave Robinson (Linda); as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Per her wishes, Graveside services will be private and for family only at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
There will be a celebration of life at the barn on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please drop in and share a memory of Karen.
