Obituary

Kay Rahn Kessler of Rincon, Georgia, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021, at the age of 78 surrounded by her family after a short illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carroll Neal Kessler, Sr., who greeted her in Heaven; they are once again holding hands as they always did.

She was born in Savannah, GA, on February 28, 1943. On June 16, 1962, she married the love of her life and the adventure began. They traveled all around the country as her husband served our country for 20 years in the United States Air Force. During those years, Kay found her fulfillment and joy through her full-time career of raising three children. Upon Neal's retirement in 1981, they returned to Rincon, GA, to start a new adventure, care for their parents, and reunite old friendships. She was very proud of her hometown of Rincon, and served as councilwoman and mayor in the early nineties. She loved her church, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, and was an active member who served on numerous committees, as well as a lifetime member of the Georgia Salzburger Society.

Apart from loving her husband and family fully and unconditionally, Kay enjoyed bird watching, reading, crocheting, scrapbooking, and visiting family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Carroll Neal Kessler, Jr. (Sonya), Wayne Kessler (Melissa), and Sandy Mizell (Wayne); grandchildren, Marie Coleman, Nicole Kessler-Razo (Will), Anna S. Kessler, Matthew Wayne Kessler, Jr., Christopher Mizell, Ryan Mizell, and Matt Mizell; great-grandchildren, Peyton Coleman and Emberlyn Coleman; sister, Jean Thomas (Dale); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The church service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 2966 Ebenezer Rd., Rincon, GA 31326, followed with a graveside service at Jerusalem Church Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 2966 Ebenezer Rd., Rincon, GA 31326.
