Obituary

Kenny Wilbur Dumas, 75, of Guyton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and children.  Born in Savannah, Georgia, Kenny spent most of his life in Port Wentworth before settling in Effingham County.  Kenny proudly served in the 165th Air National Guard from 1967 to 1973 as a cook. He worked 32 years for the City of Savannah, retiring as Water Operations Director.  A dedicated member of Port Wentworth Methodist Church, Kenny embodied his faith through selfless service, never seeking recognition. He was a 50-year Mason and Past Master of the Frank F. Baker Masonic Lodge. Those who knew him admired his unwavering faith, quiet strength, and steadfast dependability.  While at Georgia Southern College, Kenny met his future wife. Their 53-year marriage was filled with love, adventure, and faith. He and Sue shared a love for travel, exploring the world. Their adventures often included cruises and camping at Clark Hill. Together they raised their children instilling in them the values of integrity, kindness, and family.  To his grandchildren he was Granddaddy Kenny, a gentle giant. He never met a baby he didn't love. He rocked his grandbabies for hours, taught them to hunt and grill, and cheered them on in their pursuits. But his greatest joy came from family meals, storytelling, and simply being together with his family and friends.  Kenny enjoyed Braves games, NASCAR, and golf. He served his community through a love of cooking. It wasn't unusual to find him behind the grill or delivering barbecue. An avid outdoorsman, Kenny also found joy in deer hunting, fishing, and sporting clays, often spending time at Forest City Gun Club, Bay Gall Gun Club, and Dumas Family Farms. Most of all he loved the camaraderie shared through being an outdoorsman and sports fan.  Despite his many hobbies, his greatest pride was his family. He led by example and some of his best advice included: "Be honest, enjoy your family, don't have enemies, and go to church."  Kenny's legacy of love, generosity, and integrity will live on and the world is a better place because of him.  The visitation will be on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral to honor Kenny's life will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.  Thomas C.
