Obituary

Mr. Kermit Smith, of Savannah, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, his 81st birthday, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Kermit was born in Johnson County to the late Pearlie Lee & Mattie Ruth Smith. He grew up in Pooler and graduated from Commercial High School. He retired from Continental Field Machinery, served in the National Guard for 15 years, and was a member of South Newington Baptist Church. He would rather play golf than eat fried chicken, and he is still playing with house money. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Symons Smith; his children and their spouses, Kari & Frank Kline, Keith & Wendy Smith, and Kenneth & Jenny Smith; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn Smith, Larry & Martha Smith; sister, Norma & James Beasley, and a passel of nieces and nephews. The visitation will be on Friday, December 15th from 5 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
