Mrs. Laliae Roberts Seay, 90, of Pooler, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Memorial
Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Mrs. Seay was born on August 2, 1918 and was a native of the Bryan-Bulloch County
line area. She was the daughter of B.B. Roberts and Esther Canady Roberts and the
widow of James Pearson Seay.
She was a homemaker, wonderful mother and grandmother, always dedicated to her
family and helping others. A strong worker in her Church, Trinity United Methodist
Church in Pooler where she was a member for over 60 years working with small children,
cooking literally thousands of meals, and was officially known as the "Church Hostess".
Her skill as a cook came from her deep interest in food preparation and long practice
having begun her cooking experience at the age of 8 years old.
Mrs. Seay was predeceased in addition to her husband and parents, by her sisters, Louise
R. Dowdy and Lesby R. Williams and brothers, Leland B. Roberts and Lamar L. Roberts.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Betty) Seay; her daughter, Marsha (Larry)
McKendree, her grandson, Daniel R. Seay and one great-granddaughter, Victoria Seay, all
of Pooler and a large number of nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.
The visitation will be on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the Thomas C.
Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel located at 901 West Highway
80 in Pooler.
The funeral will be on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral
home with burial to follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery located west of Pooler on Highway
80.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Beard and the staff of Memorial Health
University Medical Center for their kind attention.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Pre-school
program of Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 602, Pooler, GA 31322.
