Guyton-Mr. Lamar G. Mongin, Sr. passed from this life on May 17, 2010. Born May 5, 1939 in Metter, GA to William D. & Eva J. Mongin.

Lamar retired from Cyanamid and Kemira Chemical Company after over 40 years of faithful service. He dearly cherished watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they actively participated in softball, basketball, tennis, and just hanging out with them. His love of family is a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew him. He frequently enjoyed a day of just fishing on a pond bank with family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 30 years, Christine, brothers Denver and Harold, as well as his sister, Jewel Kitchens.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Pamela L. Mongin, Lamar G. Mongin, Jr., E. Michelle (Thom) Norton; his three step-sons, Ted (Sheri), Aubrey (Sharon), and Jerry Wiley. His biggest fans, his grandchildren, Canyce Mongin, Jason (Molly) Mongin, Thomas Norton, and his princess, Kate Norton, as well as two great grandchildren, Alexis Vaughn and Jase Mongin. He is also survived by his brothers, Jake (Edna), Don and Herman (Margie) Mongin, as well as, sisters, Anne Moore, Eunice (Johnnie) Barnes, and Irma Collins; sisters-in-law, Till (Richard) Stapleton, Helen Jones, and Shirley Tallman; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Lewis.

Visitation: 6-8 pm Wednesday May 19 in the funeral home.

Funeral: 10 am Thursday May 20 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest West on Dean Forest Road.
