Mr. Larry "Skeeter" Barnes, of Meldrim, died June 9, 2018. He was born July 14, 1928 to the late Herbert L. Barnes, Sr. and Louise Walker Barnes. He was a graduate of Georgia State University and attended Georgia Teachers College. He was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Meldrim United Methodist Church. He worked on the railroad and retired from the Georgia Department of Revenue, he was a real estate agent and a farmer. After his retirement he enjoyed attending auctions and farming his land and working in his vegetable garden. It was a pleasure for him to share the harvest of his garden with many of his neighbors and family. Mr. Barnes was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Elizabeth Dixon Barnes and son, Ted Williams Barnes, his second wife, Frances Smith Barnes, and his brother, Robert Barnes. Mr. Barnes is survived by Mark and Mary Cooper and their children, Daniel Cooper and Laura Cooper; Christopher and Amy Barnes and their children, Savannah Barnes and Christopher Barnes; Dennis Cooper and his wife Monikue and their daughter Allana Seegers; Robin Haywood and her daughter Natalie Mancini; Kelly Barnes; and Paige Wahl. The graveside funeral and burial will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim. Memorials may be given to Meldrim United Methodist Church, P.O.
