Midway-Mr. Larry D. Sherrod, 65, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Sherrod was born in Lyons, GA to the late Orville & Frances Sherrod. He was also preceded in death by his brother, O.J. Sherrod, Jr. He graduated from Groves High School and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and retired from Bobcat of Savannah.
Survivors include his wife, Donna J. Sherrod; children, Kellie Middleton and her husband, Kevin and Larry David Sherrod, Jr. and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mae Middleton and David Chase Sherrod; niece, Lisa Kersey; great-nephew, Cody Kersey; uncle, Cleveland Oglesby and his wife, Ellen, and many cousins.
The visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mr. Sherrod's life was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Travis Cowart and Rev. Michael Carden officiating. David Sherrod offered a eulogy. Pallbearers were Tim Ramage, Carl Brower, Randy Oglesby, Randy Oglesby, Jr., Brandon Turnbow and Donald Oglesby. Burial followed at Gravel Hill Cemetery with military honors.
