Springfield – Larry D. Weddle, 81, passed away April 14, 2023 at his home in Springfield.

Larry was born in Detroit, MI, served in the Army and graduated from the University of Florida with an Ag Economics degree.  He joined Purina Mills in 1967 at the Detroit headquarters. Later he became a District Sales Manager, living in Southeast Georgia and North Florida. He retired in Effingham County in 1997.

After employment by Purina for 29 years, he became co-owner and president of Harvest Properties with Freddie Long developing "Kate's Cove" subdivision in Rincon.

He was an active member of Compassion Christian Church for the past 12 years. Earlier he was a deacon, taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Rincon and was very involved in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.  He also was active in the community serving as Effingham County Commissioner, and on the board of directors of First National Bank of SE GA.  Other community activities included Coastal Children Advocacy Center, Effingham Rotary Club, Concerned Taxpayers of Effingham County, Chamber of Commerce and was very active in the Georgia Republican Party.

Larry loved biking and was a member of the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Bernice Weddle and sister, Elaine Disenroth.

He is survived by his wife Julie, sons Eric (Jeanie) Weddle, daughter Katie of Germany and Kim Harrelson (Cindy) of Watertown, TN and daughter Savannah of CT.

Visitation: 2-3 pm Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Compassion Christian Church Rincon Campus with funeral service following at 3 pm.

Burial: Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
