Lee Ila Stewart McGriff
Rincon – Lee Ila Stewart McGriff, 90, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at Effingham Extended Care.
A native of Brunswick, Mrs. McGriff graduated from Glynn Academy in 1940. She worked at Coastal Chevrolet in Brunswick for 33 years. She and her husband moved to Rincon in 1980. Mrs. McGriff was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rincon until Mr. McGriff's health failed and she stayed home to take care of him. Mrs. McGriff spent the last years of her life in Effingham Extended Care, touching the lives of everyone there.
Mrs. McGriff was preceded in death by her parents, Gustava and John Quincy Stewart; husband, O.B. McGriff; her brother, Joe L. Stewart; and nephew, Johnny Stewart.
Survivors include her son, Howard Tessin (Lynn) of Lake Park; step-son, Jay McGriff of Gainesville, FL; sister-in-law, Louise Stewart; grandchildren, Joe Tessin (Carey) of Auburn, AL, Rebecca Tessin of New York City, Blanton Tessin (Lindsey) of Birmingham, AL, and Jonathan Tessin of Atlanta; three great-granddaughters; a nephew, Mason Stewart (Barbara) of Brunswick; two nieces, Betty Jo Stewart and Jeanette Stewart.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Rincon followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in Rincon Cemetery.
