Mr. Leo Kerner

Rincon – Mr. Leo Kerner, 93, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his residence.

The St. Louis, Missouri native was a member of the New Life Worship Center in Rincon. He was a retired design engineer having worked for McDonald Douglas and other aerospace companies and was involved in the development of the Mercury Space Capsule. Mr. Kerner was a U.S. Army WWII veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Kerner of Rincon; son & daughter-in-law, Scott & Debi Kerner of Rincon; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Jan Kerner of Cape Canaveral, FL and Kay & Robert Eads of Chesapeake, VA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday with funeral services following at 2 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
