Mr. Leo W. Shelton, Jr. "Coach Billy Shelton", 74, of Garden City, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at his home with his wife and children by his side.

He was born in Newport News, VA to the late Leo W. Shelton, Sr. & Doris Katherine Waite Shelton.  He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Logan Shelton, and a sister, Beverley Davis.  He retired from Delta Air Lines after 35 years of service.  He loved his grandkids and sports.  He started coaching after graduating from high school on the recreation level.  He coached baseball, softball and football.  He started the JV Football program at Groves High School, coached middle school baseball at Effingham Middle School and high school baseball at Effingham County High School and Savannah Christian where he helped lead the Raiders to a state championship.  He amassed 500 victories as a baseball coach and was a Chatham County Hall of Fame Nominee.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Andria H. Shelton; two children, Mark Shelton and his wife, Debra, and Leighann Lovett and her fiancé, Jason Pickard; grandchildren, Dalton Shelton, Landon Shelton, Addison Lovett, Payton Lovett and Holden Lovett; sister and brother-in-law, Betty & Scotty Nease and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral to honor Coach Billy Shelton's life will be on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
