Clyo - Leona Edwards Jones, 101, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at her residence under the care of Savannah Hospice.
The Effingham County native was born September 26, 1912 to Andrew and Ivy Edwards of Clyo. She was a member of Mizpah United Methodist Church, where she had served as Sunday School secretary for many years. She had worked at the Effingham Hospital as a nurses aide and had been an Avon representative since 1983 until her death. She had been a member of the Eastern Star Clyo Chapter and Clyo Homemakers Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, George E. Jones, Sr., her parents, and 9 siblings.
Survivors: a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Lynette Jones; two daughters and son-in-law, Judy and Buddy Rainey, and Jennifer Hadwin; seven grandchildren, Edwin Jones, Angie Gaskin, Susie Collins, Morris Rainey, Karyl Harris, Thomas Rainey, and Jody Hadwin; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to her caregivers, Wanda Edwards, Jerrie Sutton, Joyce Willette, Lynn Herron, Lydia Miller, Kathy Emanuel, and Sandy Guyton.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Monday, March 31, 2014 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 am Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Mizpah United Methodist Church.
Burial: Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Remembrances: Mizpah United Methodist Church.
