Meldrim-Mr. Lloyd B. "L.B." Slater, 86, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at The Place at Pooler.
Mr. Slater was born in Meldrim to the late Tom & Helen Moore Slater. He was also preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Edmond Slater and three brothers, Thomas, Calvin & Jack Slater. He was a member of the Meldrim United Methodist Church, loved the outdoors and served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Helen T. Slater; son and daughter-in-law, James S. & Joan Slater; grandchildren, Jared & Jill Slater; sister, Helen Skanes; brothers, Earl, Homer and Richard Slater and Jimmy Mitchell as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at the Meldrim United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
