Lorene Owens Riley
Rincon / Blairsville – Lorene Owens Riley, 81, passed away peacefully Monday, February 21, 2011.
The Chatham County native was a longtime resident of Effingham and an active member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, the L.C.W., a lifetime member of the Georgia Salzburger Society, and the Effingham Historical Society. She was also an associate member of Mountain of Life Lutheran Church in Blairsville, GA. She worked in nursing and was an active community and ministry volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Phillip Owens and Nellie Mae Waldhour Owens; her husband, Pearson Ashley Riley, Sr.; and sister, Mary Alice Zipperer.
Survivors include her children, Paulette Gebhardt of Marietta, GA, Debbie Mason of Pennsacola, FL, and Ashley Riley of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Courtney, Allison, Mackenzie, Michele, Alisha, Rhett, Shelly, and Brandon; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Neurath of Rincon; brother, Thomas Owens of Rincon; and several nieces.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow in Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
