Mrs. Lorine "Toot" Knowles, 87, of Donalsonville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at her home peacefully surrounded by her family.

Lorine was born and raised in Berrien County, a share cropper's daughter, where she spent her formative years.  She later lived in Bloomingdale, Georgia for 40 years before settling in Donalsonville for the past year.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and one true love, Ted Knowles, Sr., her parents, John Enoth Stone and Lizzie Stone, her brothers, Charlie B. Stone, Lester Stone and Slick Stone, her sisters, Abbie Clanton, Mary Alice Rowe and Madilee Stone.  She had worked for both the sewing plant in Nashville, Georgia as well as being a crossing guard for the City of Bloomingdale.  She loved flowers, gardening, fishing and animals.  She will be remembered for being a good cook (especially her biscuits), for being "everyone's granny", for a lady of strong faith, and for being a Christian.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ted Knowles, Jr. (Becky-caregiver); granddaughter, Ashley Knowles Adkins; a number of nieces and nephews including Sissy Osborne and Junior Stone; her cats, Lulu and Roscoe, as well as her grand-dog, Daisy.

The visitation will be on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale.  The service to honor Lorine's life will follow at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.  Burial will follow at Westside Memorial Gardens on Adams Road in Bloomingdale.
