Obituary

Clyo – Mr. Louis O'Neal Seckinger, 77, passed away on 23 December 2022 after a short illness at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

A viewing will be held at Strickland Funeral Home on 28 December 2022 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by Funeral Services at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Nick Pumfrey of Silver Hill United Methodist Church presiding.

Interment will follow in Silver Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Seckinger was preceded in death by: his father and mother, Lewis P. Seckinger and Annie Mae Seckinger; his wife, Mrs. Lois Seckinger; his sons, Wayne and Wade Nix; his daughter, Elaine Stanley; and his constant and great companion and beloved friend Sassy.

He is survived by his son, Charles Nix and wife Rhonda of Cottageville, SC; his brother Denny Seckinger and wife Unchu of Weaver, AL; his three grandchildren, Chuck Nix and wife Yolanda of Summerville, SC, Michael Stanley and wife Michelle of Hampton, SC, Tammy Hadwin and husband Odie of Hampton, SC; eleven great-grandchildren; one niece, Kelsi Baker and husband Tyler of Prattville, AL; nephew, Kyle Seckinger and wife Laura of Chelsea, AL; grand niece Whitley Seckinger; grand nephews, Weston and Wyatt Baker and Jameson Seckinger.

Mr. Seckinger was born in Guyton, GA on 23 October 1945 and grew up in the country working on farms in various capacities (hay, corn, cotton and tobacco fields) along with numerous other tasks that were part of country living.  Subsequently, he worked in many different jobs, including, but not limited to: Georgia Pacific; driving over-the-road trucks; forestry; and on numerous dredges in many different locations: VA, NY, FL; AL; LA: TX; GA; and other Continental U.S. locations.  He also worked in the Middle East in Bahrain, Qatar and Egypt.

He lived in his own home until his admission to the hospital on 8 December 2022.
