Obituary

Mr. Lowell David Grovenstein, Sr., 94, of Pooler, Georgia, died at home on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 surrounded by his family.

He was born in Savannah, Georgia to Paul & Nona Grovenstein. Lowell was raised in Port Wentworth, Georgia and was a member of Port Wentworth United Methodist Church. He was employed at Union Camp as a pipefitter for 46 years. He retired in 1995 and spend the majority of his time after that with his children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to him and he was a devoted husband, father and granddaddy. He loved camping and every June for over 50 years he enjoyed camping with his family and friends at Clark Hill. Due to his declining health he was unable to fulfill that passion for the last 8 years. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves and Nascar racing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years, V'Dola Reddick Grovenstein, brother, Charles Lewis Grovenstein, sister and brother-in-law, Verna Lee and Marcell Mercer.

He is survived by his sons, Lowell David (Dave) Grovenstein & fiancé, Julie Trussell, and Daniel Alvin (Dan) Grovenstein; daughter and son-in-law, Alison & Robbie White; grandchildren, Kyle Hillis, Danny (Sydney) Grovenstein, Deven Grovenstein, Dustin (Ellison) White, Dylan and Alana White; sister-in-law, Marylin Grovenstein; two nephews, Glenn (Connie) Mercer and Chuck (Lucy) Grovenstein and one niece, Terri (Tony) Brown.

The visitation will be on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery located at 1336 Dean Forest Road in Garden City, Georgia.
