Lucy Gay Morgan Waller
Rincon- Lucy Gay Morgan Waller passed away May 27, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born at home in Fayette County, Georgia on November 4, 1939 to Stanley and Lucy Murphy Morgan. When she was ten years old, Lucy went to live with her older sister, Harriette Deane Harrell , after the death of their beloved mother. She graduated in 1957 from Fayette County High School, where she played basketball and clarinet, and was voted "Friendliest Girl" two years in a row. After attending West Georgia College and graduating from Georgia Southern College, Lucy began a thirty-year career teaching elementary school children. She married John Waller in 1961 and devoted her life to Christian ministry. Lucy tirelessly taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and visited current and prospective church members. After she retired, she continued to teach the Charlotte Brunson Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Springfield. She enjoyed traveling (including several cruises, two Christian tours, and a mission trip to South Korea), writing (publishing four books), and spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother to four children and a doting grandmother to four grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.
Lucy is survived by four children (and spouses): Laura Waller Wood (Alan), John David Waller, Lynne Waller Crabtree (Ralph), and Jennifer Waller Sibley; four grandchildren: Allison and Emily Wood, and Luke and Kate Crabtree; sisters-in-law Sara Morgan and Maureen Banks; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Lucy Morgan; her sister, Harriette Deane Harrell; and her brothers, Joseph Murphy Morgan and Stanley Lewis Morgan, Jr.
