Obituary

Bloomingdale– Luray Carter Proudfoot, 93, died Monday, June 3, 2013 at The Place at Pooler.
The Baxley native was a member of Faulkville Baptist Church, but had been a longtime member of South Newport Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was known by many as the community barber and cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert "Chief" Proudfoot ; her son, Wilbert Ray Proudfoot; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, Brad Proudfoot (Diane); daughter-in-law, Sonja Proudfoot Rozier; four grandsons, Clint and Blake Proudfoot, Gabriel "Gab" Higareda (Liz), and Jerry "Bopper" Mize; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Noah, and Alex; her sister, Henrie Lamb; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Thursday, June 6, 2013 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 4 pm Friday, June 7, 2013 at South Newport Baptist Church with family receiving visitors at 3 pm. The church is located at 23344 U.S. Hwy 17 in Townsend, GA. Interment: McIntosh Family Cemetery.
