Mrs. Luvern McNear Vandiver

Guyton, GA – Luvern McNear Vandiver, almost 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2018 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA after a short illness.

She was a very committed and faithful Christian and loved her Lord. Mama was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church in Guyton.  She attended church and Sunday School until the week before she got sick.  Mama's determination to serve her Lord was an inspiration to many.

She was born September 17, 1928 in Brooklet, GA. She was a hard worker all her life.  In her teens she worked at W.T. She was preceded in death by Garland Ford Vandiver, her loving, hardworking husband of 39 years; daughter-in-law, Cindy Patrick Vandiver; sisters, Nettie, Dorothy, Evelyn, Myrtle, Carrie; and a special friend, Mr. Randall Waldhour.

She was a wonderful, caring, mother of 5 children whom she loved dearly, Yvonne (Darrell) Hawkins, Kenny (Elaine) Vandiver, William (Cindy, preceded) Vandiver, Raymond (Mary) Vandiver, and Melinda Moser; 11 grandchildren, Bryan (Mary Beth) Hawkins, Jason (Erika) Hawkins, Jeremy (Abbey) Hawkins, Brandi (Peyton) Zeagler, Summer (John) Stone, Caleb (Caroline) Vandiver, Eli Vandiver, Nickie Vandiver, Billy Moser, Jr., Joshua (Lacey) Moser, and Meagan (Shane) Dillon; 19 great-grandchildren, Luke, Ava Rose, Charlotte, Caroline, Landon, Leland, Lincoln Hawkins, Lane and Kylee Zeagler, Bailee and Andrea Stone, Jordan Vandiver and unborn baby due August 2nd, Alex and Alexa Stahl, Ella and Charlotte Moser, Adrian and Addison Dillon; brother, James (Faye) McNear; sister-in-law, Avus DeLoach Vandiver; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at Pine Street Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.
