Mrs. Lynda Sims Sanders, 76, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on the morning of Friday, September 20, 2024.
Our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, Lynda Sanders went home to be with her Lord on the morning of September 20th after a long battle with multiple myeloma. Lynda loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, with all her heart and her love for her family is unending. She worked in church administration for over 20 years at various churches and retired from Coastal Christian Church when her cancer battle began. Prior to church administration, she worked at First Bank in Pooler (currently Wells Fargo).
Lynda was adventurous, feisty, joyful, fearless, and one of the most gracious, compassionate, and loving people you would ever meet. Even during her battle with cancer, she focused on helping others, working in various ministry capacities at her current church, Freedom Fellowship, in Savannah. She also expressed her love through her generosity to numerous charitable organizations, including, but not limited to, those helping veterans and first responders, needy children abroad, Israel and Jewish help organizations, and numerous animal and pet rescue organizations.
Lynda loved and cared for people but there was also a huge place in her heart for animals, especially her pets. She spent several years, along with her husband Bobby, actively participating in fostering, finding homes for, and transporting rat terriers with Ratbone Rescues. She ultimately ended up adopting four of the dogs she fostered.
Lynda was preceded in death by a son, John M. Chancellor, III; her father, John Sims and mother, Louise Shumans Parr; sisters, Patty Stafford and Crystal Justus; and step-mother, Mildred Sims.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bobby" Sanders; son, John D. Green, Jr. (Trina); step-children, Debra Walker, Sharon Kay Hester, Sherry Waters, and Joey Sanders; grandchildren, Joshua Green (Raschelle), Bethany Farkas (Zac), Stephanie Green, and Micah Green (Makay); several step-grandchildren, including Cassie, Darien, and CJ; great-grandchildren, Leia, Emira, Nessa, Alex, Ezra, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Amelia; sisters, Sandy Butler (Tom), Amanda Webb (Lindy), Cindy Robinson (Kenny), and Sherry Shipes (Charles); as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Lynda's life will be on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
