Lynwood Long

Rincon – Lynwood Long, 79, passed away November 4, 2018 at Memorial Health.

The Effingham County native was a member of Turkey Branch Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, and served as Sunday School Superintendent.  He retired from C.S.X. Railroad after 40 years and then worked part time at Edwards Interiors.  He loved watching Nascar races.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Marvin and Mary Elizabeth Roney Long; siblings, Edward, James, Sylvester, Irene, Theo, and Donald.

Survivors include his wife, Betty W. Long; daughters, Denise Edwards (Doug) and Kimberly Fisher (John); siblings, Ouida Hammock, Rebena Brower, Mildred Coleman (George), and Evelyn Jaudon (DeCardeau); and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Turkey Branch Baptist Church. Mr. Long will lie in state from 2 p.m.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
