Mabel Lorraine Leonard, age 96, passed away peacefully at Memorial Health University Health System on December 20, 2025. She was a longtime resident of Guyton, Georgia, and spent most of her life in Florida, particularly in Gibsonton. She was known to family and friends by her middle name, Lorraine.

Lorraine was born to Lonnie Messer and Mabel Horne, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lonnie Earl Messer and Daisy Jewel Messer; nephews Dan Chesser and Earl Chesser; and a cherished family friend who was considered like a daughter, Sandra Kelley. She leaves behind cherished friends that thought of her as family including Ronald and Myra Weaver.

Lorraine retired after many years of dedicated work at a cigar factory. In her quieter moments, she found joy in simple pleasures such as fishing, painting ceramics, watching her birds, reading, and spending time with those she cared for. Though a private person by nature, she deeply appreciated visits from friends and formed meaningful friendships after moving to Georgia, many of whom she lovingly considered her family.

Originally from Florida, Lorraine grew up there and spent the majority of her life surrounded by familiar places and faces before settling in Georgia. Her calm presence, independence, and appreciation for life's peaceful moments will be fondly remembered. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
