Mr. Mack Tharpe (Sonny) Pierce, Jr., 69, of Pooler, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Hospice Savannah.

He was born in Savannah to the late Mack and Dorothy Pierce, and lived most of his life in Pooler.  He was greatly loved by his family and a multitude of friends.  His daughters and granddaughters were his life.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his Thursday morning outings.  He always enjoyed his yard and doing fix-its around the house.  He graduated from Groves High School in 1966.  He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.  He began working for the Colonial Group in 1972, where he served in numerous capacities in accounting and information technology.  During this time, he earned his BBA in Accounting.  He retired in 2010 after 38 years.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Pooler for most of his life.  His adult life was spent doing whatever was needed, from administrative needs to general maintenance.  He served 30 years as church Treasurer and a member of the Finance Committee.  He was also a member of the United Methodist Men.  Most recently, he was a member of the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church where he also served on the Finance Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Myra Exley Pierce; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kelly & Raoul Calimlim, and Stacy Pierce; granddaughters, Isabel, Abigail and Hadley Calimlim; brother and sister-in-law, Bob & Darlene Pierce; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, RubyAnn & Bob Kyle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David & Betty Exley.  He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
