Malcolm Franklin Rice, 73, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020.
He enlisted as a Navy Corpsman/Marine Medic (nicknamed "Doc") and served in the military from 1963 until 1967, also serving in the Vietnam War. He would often joke about his experience, saying "It took Vietnam 53 years to kill me!" He retired from truck driving and auto-mechanic work in 2003.
Malcolm was a faithful Christian, as well as a loving husband to Jacqueline, father to Ree, Jason and wife, Tega, Jessica and husband, Daniel. Malcolm loved and was loved by many close family members and friends, including Richard Kyall, Nancy Gunter, and Bruce and Sissy Rahn.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 6 until 7 p.m. in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 West Highway 80 in Pooler.
The graveside funeral and burial will be on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery located at 1336 Dean Forest Road in Garden City.
All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place, including the mandatory wearing of masks (Chatham County Mandate).
