Obituary

Guyton – Mandon Joseph Burke, 77, passed away November 5, 2021 at his residence under the care of Kindred Hospice.

The Chatham County native was a U.S. Army and National Guard Veteran.  He went on to play minor league baseball, retired from Great Dane, then working and retiring from Pooler Elementary School, and then working at Effingham Hospital.  He was a member of Monterrey Park Church of God where he was involved in the children's ministry and drove the church bus.  He enjoyed fishing and he and his wife were foster parents for 14 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Grady Burke and Dorothy Mock Burke.

Survivors include his wife, Linda R. Burke; daughters, Mary Weaver (Hank) and Marty Gross (Hugh); grandchildren, Katelyn Yoke (Michael), Caleb Weaver, Jakob Gross, Jonah Gross, and Jadon Gross; great-grandchildren, Madison, McKinley, Milyn, and Bentley Yoke, and Gunner Shaw.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Kindred Hospice, 2280 E. Victory Drive, Ste. A, Savannah, GA 31404.
