Mrs. Marcia Maddox Smith, 87, of Guyton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at The Oaks at Pooler.

Marcia is going to be missed by her husband of 67 years, Harold Wendell Smith, and her daughters, Wendi Smith Maxfield (Timothy) and Marva Smith (Romie Amerson).

Marcia was born to Frank Smith Maddox and Margaret Finch Maddox in Covington, Georgia.  She played college basketball at Truett-McConnell College and graduated from Georgia Teachers College with a Masters Degree in Education.  She taught Physical Education at Central Junior Middle School, Effingham County High School and Marlow Elementary School.  She is a member of the Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame.

The visitation will be on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral to honor Marcia's life will follow at 5 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Darren Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Church at Godley Station, 1601 Benton Blvd., Pooler, GA  31322 or to either the Chatham or Effingham Animal Shelters.
