Maree Nease Wendelken
Guyton – Maree Nease Wendelken, 71, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The Effingham County native was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church, the Shirley Sharpe Sunday School Class, the Bethesda Women's Association, and was a former Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir, a counselor for the youth, and served in many offices within the church. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Annie Nease; and husband, George L. Wendelken.
Survivors include her children, George Kerry Wendelken, Jeffrey (Penny) Wendelken, LaDonna Purvis; grandchildren, Britni Cress, Anna Helmey, Brandie Purvis, J.B. Wendelken, and Martina Purvis; great-grandchildren, Caleb Cress and Colton Helmey; sister, Janice Nease; brother, Jackey (Karen) Nease; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wendelken will lie in state from 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
