Savannah-Mrs. Margaret Ginn Newton (Cleve), 92, resident of Riverview Health and Rehabilitation, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, peacefully following a very brief illness, at Candler Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born on December 1, 1924 and grew up in the Denmark community. Following graduation from Brooklet, GA High School she moved to Savannah and was a very active member of Southside Baptist Church. Upon moving to Pooler she joined Rothwell Baptist Church where she was very involved. She moved to Statesboro and joined First Baptist Church. When she moved to Riverview she joined First Baptist Church of the Islands.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cleve Newton, her parents, James Hugh and Ethel Jackson Ginn, brothers, M.E. Ginn of Statesboro, Earl Ginn of Savannah, David Ginn of Sandersville, GA and nephew, Jere Ginn of Statesboro.
Margaret is survived by her family of nieces and nephews, Marie (Chuck) Sheets, Jimmy Ginn and Claire Ginn of Statesboro, GA; Bobby (Judy) Ginn, Danny (Linda) Ginn, and Nancy (Casey) Pearson of Savannah, GA; Freddy Ginn of Guyton, GA, Deborah (Tommy) Cain, and Michael (Jean) Ginn of Sandersville, GA, and cousin, Bernard (Elsie) Ginn of Savannah.
The graveside funeral and burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery located at 1600 Wheaton Street in Savannah, conducted by Rev. Brooks Cail, First Baptist Church of the Islands.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be given to the First Baptist Church of the Islands, 6613 Johnny Mercer Blvd., Savannah, GA 31410.
