Margaret E. Spilliards passed away on February 7, 2024 at Hospice Savannah.

She was born in Telfair Hospital on August 22, 1932.  Margaret graduated from St. Vincents Academy in 1950.  She married James L. Spilliards on December 7, 1951 and they were married 71 years.

Margaret was a homemaker and mother to three before returning to school and becoming an LPN.  She worked at Hunter Army Airfield Hospital in the maternity ward.  Also worked for Dr. Nichols and Dr. Williams for many years in their private practice.  Margaret was a member of Jasper Springs Baptist Church for 71 years.  She enjoyed many years of crafting along with her husband.  They also enjoyed many years of traveling the country in their motor home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Spilliards; her parents, Joseph Smith and Gladys Bell Smith Youngblood; sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Williams and Josephine Kauffman.

She is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Nancy), Steve (Libby) and daughter, Denise Kessler (Brown); granddaughters, Leta Virant (Tom) and Emily Patel (Sagar); great-grandsons, Caden and Cooper Virant; brother-in-law, Marvin Spilliards and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be given to Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA  31406 or Woodlawn Baptist Church, 407 Talmadge Ave., Garden City, GA  31408.

There will be a Visitation on Monday, February 12th from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home and the funeral will be on Tuesday, February 13th at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, GA.
