Obituary

West Chatham Chapel

Garden City-Mrs. Marie Arnsdorff Hinely Helmey, 85, died on Monday, October 20,
2008 at Riverview Health & Rehabilitation.

The Effingham County native had lived in Garden City for many years. She was a
member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and retired from the Chatham County Board
of Education. She was a life member of the Parent Teacher Association, she worked for
Seaboard Railroad and was a member of the Bonifide Lodge #211 Auxillary of United
Transportation Union. She and her husband enjoyed camping and they visited 49 states
as well as Canada and Mexico.

Survivors include her husband, Theodore Eugene Helmey of Garden City; three daughters
and their spouses, Linda & Jerry Bridgforth of Garden City, Wilma & Ron Garing of
Garden City and Ginny & Terry Highsmith of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren,
Tammy & Howie Dent of Guyton and Jeremy & Rais Hendrix of Port Wentworth;
great-grandson, Jakob Hendrix of Port Wentworth; sister, Emmie Lindsey of Springfield;
sister-in-law, Catherine Hinely of Springfield; several nieces and nephews and the Ben Munford family.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home,
West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.

Funeral: 2 p.m. on Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Springfield. Mrs. Helmey will
lie in state from 1-2 p.m. at the Church. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
