Savannah-Mr. Marion P. Hales, Jr., 68, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home.
Marion was born in Savannah and grew up in Meldrim. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion P. "Coot" Hales, Sr., and a brother, Robert G. Hales, Sr. He grew up playing baseball in Effingham County, and enjoyed playing golf later in life. He received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theology, and loved to preach. He was a member of Harvest Time Church, was the owner/operator of Total Credit Repair, and formerly was employed with Candler Hospital for 12 years as a Chief Lab Tech.
Survivors include his mother, Lois Lane; wife, Sandra D. Hales; son, Jay Wesley Hales, and his wife, Melissa; step-children, Charles P. Kinstle, Jr., Angela Bailes, Michael Kinstle, Christopher Kinstle, Michelle Kinstle, and Rachael Carter; many grandchildren; siblings, Dennis Hales (Sharon), David Hales, Kenny Hales, and Fran Hales Westberry (Derrell); sister-in-law, Patti Hales, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
