Mrs. Marion Beatrice Sowell Slater, 87, transitioned from this life to her Heavenly home on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Amara Rahab in Augusta.

She was born in Sylvania to the late John & Lourean Sowell and was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Olin Slater.  She was a member of the Alpha United Methodist Church and attended the Watson Davis Sunday School Class.  She was a homemaker and a caregiver for many years.

Survivors include her children, John S. Slater (Jeanine), Elizabeth Dean and Lucy S. Thompson (Lee); 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephew.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday the funeral home.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at Alpha United Methodist Church located at 5 East U.S. Hwy. 80 in Bloomingdale.  Mrs. Slater will lie in state from 12-1 p.m. at the church.  Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
