Marjorie Earline Sasser Duke
Rincon – Marjorie Earline Sasser Duke, 94, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at her residence.
"I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
The Screven County born, Savannah native, partnered in ministry with her husband, Clayton Duke, pastoring many churches in Georgia and Alabama over 45 years. She retired from Sears in 1969. She was a state board member of the Georgia Women's Ministries of the Assemblies of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Allen Sasser, Pansy Sasser Hutson; husband, Rev. A. C. Duke; grandson Clayton Eugene Duke; and siblings, Dorothy Pittman, Thomas Sasser, Jr., Elizabeth Sumter, and six half brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Thomas D. Duke, Sr., Philip D. Duke, Cheryl D. Smith, and E. Roger Duke; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family extends great appreciation for Mrs. Duke's many caretakers, in particular Sue Pittman Hill, who was tireless and gracious during the last years, and to Matt Smith who lovingly cared for his grandmother every day with exemplary kindness of heart.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Rincon Church of God.
Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
